Seikah
Seikah is the Myanmar version of the pedal cab which exist in one form or another throughout South East Asia. In Thailand, they're known as samlor and in Malaysia and Singapore, becak. The Myanmar seikah has two seats back-to-back and are smaller and a little less comfortable than samlors and becaks. The most that they can carry is three people (Myanmar size people, that is), with the third person sitting on the rack behind the driver. Seikahs are used mainly for short distance travel of say, around, 2 to 3 kilometers although some have been known to travel from Zeigyi to Ze Atik on the eastern border of town.

Fares for travelling on the seikah are negotiated with the driver before you start your journey. Expect to pay around 300 Kyat for a 2 kilometer trip. Many seikah drivers do not speak English but given the friendly nature of the Myanmar people, it shouldn't be a problem to find someone who can to help with translation if need be. If you're wanting to catch a seikah to your hotel from anywhere, visit our Places to Stay pages where you can print name cards in the Myanmar language of the various hotels and guest houses around town. Give this to the seikah driver and he should be able to take you there.
