Le Bein 'Le bein' literally means 'four wheels' so these blue midget pickup cars you see zipping around the streets of Mawlamyine are the four wheel version of the thoun bein. They're no larger than a thoun bein, however, seating 4 to 6 people in the back and one in the front. The driver's compartment, unlike the thoun bein, resembles more of a car than a scooter complete with a gear shift and circular steering wheel.
Le beins are used as ad hoc hire vehicles and can be found at the north end of Zeigyi near the corner of Thaton Tadar St and Lower Main Rd. Their rates are similar to motorcycle taxis and thoun beins which is about 300 to 400 kyat for a distance of around 5 kilometers.
