This is a modern cafe selling various exotic coffee, pastries, cakes, ice cream and buns. Unfortunately, it's located quite some distance from the main town center in the Zeigyo area of Mawlamyine. Japan Cafe is on the lower floor of the Japan Computer Centre, one of the most popular and largest public Internet access centres in Mawlamyine. It opens at 8:30 am and closes at 9:30pm. 

Coffee prices are reasonably priced at 700 kyat a cup (compared to 300 kyat at conventional tea shops) and taste great and so too the buns and cakes. If you think the picture at left is a little dark, then you're right. Due to power blackouts, a large generator located on the the street powers the two storey building, where the computers and servers located on the second floor take priority over house lights. It must be said that this place has one of the most cleanest public toilets in the whole of Mawlamyine.
